All you need are the right brushes, a light touch and these step-by-step tips from makeup artist Elie Maalouf for the perfect look for your wedding day.
FACE
Pick a concealer that matches the color of your foundation. With a concealer brush,
apply a thin layer under the eye, from the inner edge to outer corner. Apply lightly on blemishes, too; blend with a sponge. Here, Prescriptives Camouflage Cream in Y/O Medium.
Choose a shade of foundation that perfectly matches your skin tone. Apply all over face with a foundation brush or fingertips, then blend with a sponge from hairline to an inch or two under your jawline. Here, Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Makeup in Cream.
Apply a light dusting of loose translucent powder with a puff or brush to set foundation so that it lasts all day. Use a big, flat brush to remove any excess. Here, Prescriptives All Skins Powder in Level 2.
EYES
With a shadow brush, apply a neutral cream shadow, like beige, from lid to brow. Next, apply a darker shadow, like plum, in the crease; blend with a brush. Apply a medium highlighting color, like violet, under brow bone. Here, L’Oréal Paris Wear Infinité Long-Wearing Silky Powder Shadow in Shroom Shimmer, Plum Royale, and Violet Petal.
Add a frosty cream highlight color to make eyes pop. Apply lightly to the inner corners of the eye and gently extend a bit of the color along the lower lash line. Here, L’Oréal Paris HIP High Intensity Pigments Pure Pigment Shadow Sticks in Dazzling.
Apply black pencil in a thin line to upper lashes for more definition. Draw chocolate brown pencil liner inside lower lashes to soften the effect. Here, L’Oréal Paris HIP High Intensity Pigments Color Truth Eyeliner in Black (top) and Brown (bottom).
A double coat of lengthening black mascara will bring focus to the eyes and elongate lashes. To avoid the raccoon look, go with a waterproof formulation and cry all you want. Here, L’Oréal Paris Lash Architect Waterproof Mascara in Black.
Tip: To open up eyes and make lashes appear longer, use an eyelash curler before applying mascara
CHEEKS
For a healthy glow, apply bronzer with a large brush (and a light hand) on the bridge of the nose, forehead, and temples. The key: Blend, blend, blend. Here, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Soft Matte Bronzer.
Blush warms up the skin and sculpts the cheekbones. Lightly apply pale pink or peach to the apples of the cheeks with a soft brush. Here, Estée Lauder BlushLights Creamy CheekColor in PinkShimmer.
Tip: Never apply a cream-based blush over loose powder—powder over powder is smoother
LIPS
Apply a velvety lip balm to moisturize lips, improve texture, and make lipstick last longer. Here, Aveeno Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner with SPF15.
Line lips with a nude lip pencil; the closer the color matches the actual tone of your lips,
the more natural it will look. To keep color lasting even longer, fill in lips with liner before applying lipstick. Here, Rimmel Vinyl Jelly Gloss Lip Liner in Fudge
Choose a sheer, semi-gloss lipstick for the perfect combo of color and shine. (Matte formulas tend to be dry and dense, and super-glosses fade fast.) Apply with a lip brush for even coverage. Here, Rimmel Cool Shine Lipstick in Shine On!
Tip: Place a tissue over painted lips, then apply pressed powder to set lipcolor. You’re ready for your close-up!
